Langhe
Piedmont is known throughout the world for its sophisticated culture, fabulous cuisine and especially for its fine wines. If you are looking for a romantic place, the Langhe area in Piedmont is ideal for your romantic holiday in Italy.
In Alba, the gastronomic capital of Italy, renowned above all for its precious white truffle, you can taste refined dishes with your partner. In nearby Barolo, a picturesque town that gives its name to one of the most famous Italian red wines, dominated by a castle that hosts the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo, and surrounded by enchanting romantic villages like Barbaresco, Sinio, Serralunga and Perno, you can make delicious winetastings.
You can also explore the romantic landscape of the Langhe through the Romantic Road of the Langhe and Roero. An original route that among breathtaking natural landscapes, medieval castles and villages will let you know the history, the flavors and the spirits of this land. An alternative way to visit places, do outdoor activities, meet the locals, enjoy good food and enjoy a good glass of wine.
The Langhe are perfect for romantic getaways and holidays for two, especially in autumn, when the vineyards of the Langhe are tinged with colors that descend from red to yellow, offering a wonderful show.
Liguria
Liguria, with its colored houses-towers of its villages, the narrow alleys, the bays and the coves where you can enjoy sunsets over the sea, has countless places where couples can enjoy a romantic holiday during a stay in a farmhouse.
Portovenere, on the end of the Golfo dei Poeti, is definitely a destination to visit as a couple, where you can take a romantic walk along the picturesque bay, with its multicoloured houses facing the sea, between the narrow cobbled alleys of the centre and the church of San Pietro overlooking the sea and from where you can admire a breathtaking sunset.
The small seaside village of Camogli, in the Riviera di Levante, is a romantic place at any time of the year, with its port and brightly coloured houses overlooking the small gulf. Here, on Valentine's Day, the locals celebrate a romantic party called Innamorati a Camogli with the poetry contest where you can read the poems on some posters displayed on the pier and in the squares, or hang a heart with your own names on the rope networks of the pier.
Unmissable for a couple holiday are the Cinque Terre, five small villages located on the promontory overlooking the sea that can be reached through some walking trails. The most famous is the Via dell'Amore, a path on the sea, an ancient meeting point for lovers, which connects the town of Manarola to Riomaggiore.
Finally, also Sestri Levante, with the Baia del Silenzio, surrounded by pastel coloured houses and Portofino, with its famous little square, are perfect places for a romantic holiday.
Umbria
Umbria is a small and quiet region of central Italy that has little to envy to nearby Tuscany and much to offer. Romantic cities. villages perched on hills, spiritual places, beautiful works of art, medieval castles and lush vegetation that Henry James called "the most beautiful garden in the world" where many of our cottages are immersed.
In Umbria you can enjoy the religious atmosphere of Assisi and Norcia, with their traditions of chocolate and truffles and visit the vibrant cultural centre of Perugia and the other fascinating medieval towns of Orvieto and Todi, characterized by sweet hills of cypresses and green valleys with olive trees, vineyards and woods.
