During the last ten years a revolution has slowly been overtaking the rural areas of Italy, in particular in Tuscany and Umbria as Italians seek to preserve their rural culture that was in real danger of disappearing.
The salvation of the very special way of life that surrounds the farmhouse in Italy is the agriturismo - a working farm that offers farm holidays to travellers on working farms and estates.
The number of rooms on each property are limited to 30 therefore avoiding the more catastrophic effects of tourism that often wrecks havoc on the environment and on the lifestyle of the locals.
