Once upon a time there was... a King, my young readers will say at once....but - Once upon a time there was a piece of wood... I start my story in this way borrowing the first lines from one of the most famous books in the world in order to begin as in a fairytale to describe You my farmhouse and its agritourism. We are in Tuscany, exactly in Rufina, which is a town in the Sieve Valley. In this area olive trees and grapevines have been cultivated for centuries. This region was included in the first Grand-ducal Proclamation about the delimitation of borders for those areas dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards: it included the Chianti Rufina district as well as the Pomino one.
A great writer, Francesco Redi speaks about our wine in his Dithyramb “Bacco in Toscana”, also the Nobel Poet Eugenio Montale mentions the Rufina Wine, the characters of Vasco Pratolini’s books drink always rosso Rufina....etc. Only few kilometres far from Florence, it is here that my family and I look forward to welcoming you. We desire to have as a guest who would like to enjoy a pleasant period relaxing in contact with Nature not giving up all the comforts and in particular wish to approach our land, our cuisine, our wines, our traditions and our cities of art, which are very rich in marvellous places of interest.
Florence is just 22 km away and it is easily reached by car, train or bus, and there you will find museums, art exhibitions and shops of every kind. You need only to give a look around you to be conscious that every place has a human dimension, it keeps a millenary history, which you can breathe in all the streets of the Renaissance old town.
After telling and seeing all these things you can take a dip in our pool and sample a delicious dinner in one of the many restaurants in the hills around us.
Welcome to our pampering agritourism! After having visited it you will become aware that in our fireplace we usually burn only wood of high quality.
Our estate, called Azienda Agricola Lecciole and Agriturismo Rufina 1009, consists in the main villa, the farmhouse that has been converted into comfortable guest apartments and rooms, and in 16 hectare cultivated land with DOCG Chianti Rufina vineyard and olive-grove.
