Certaldo is a town of cultural and historical interest. It is known worldwide especially as the hometown of Giovanni Boccaccio, who lived and died here in 1375 in his house at Via Boccaccio.
In Certaldo Alto there are four restaurants, one pizzeria, two bars, a grocery store, handicraft, souvenirs and wine stores. In the modern town center (walking distance or by funicolar) you will find supermarkets, banks, bar, restaurants, pharmacy, food shops, market day: Wednesday. Railway station (Firenze-Siena line)
