Info and Description

The Palace, a sixteenth-century villa, is located in Casperia, a small medieval village in the heart of Sabina, only 60 kilometers from Rome.

We are in the province of Rieti, in a land rich in charm and culture, where nature and urban atmosphere blend in a harmonious and peacefull landscape.

Some rooms have been restored in the Palace respecting...

the existing structure, with brick arches and wood-beamed ceilings.

The palace, built at the end of the sixteenth century by the Bruschi family, the Orsini feudalist, lies close to the northern part of the 13th century wall, including one of the remaining five towers.

The palace has over fifty rooms and a chapel.

A tribute to the powerful Guelph family of the Orsini are the two stone representing bears located at the entrance of the palace.

In 1781 the Palace hosted Cardinal Corsini during his pastoral visit.

Since then, the room, specially furnished for the illustrious guest, took the name of "Cardinal's Room".

During the Napoleonic period the Bruschi restored the Palace according to the style of that time: columns in the entrance, rich decorative stucco, gallery with vaulted and painted walls, renovation of the furniture with empire-style furniture and consoles, decorations on the walls with typically papiers peints French.

After the Vienna Congress, the lands and the palace of the Bruschi were confiscated by the Pontifical State because Giuseppe Bruschi, Mayor of Aspra since 1809, had deployed with the Roman Republic and with Napoleon.

The Palace and the lends were purchased by the Petrocchi family and passed, after 1870, to the Pompili-Maldura family.

In 1871 the new owner of the palace, Constante Maldura, acquired one of the two valuable Roman statues found in Paranzano.

At the end of the 19th century the Palace and the properties passed from Constant Maldura to her daughter Elena.

In 1929 the Palace passed by inheritance to the Forani family: new interior renovation and arrangement of the hilly park where many plant species typical of the Mediterranean climate replaced secular olive trees.

The carriageway has also been built to have access to the building from the northwest side of the town.
