Spa The locality lies in the Tuscan Apennines in a geographical preveleged position, where the torrent Lima meets the river Serchio. This area offers a wide range of attractions and is half an hour drive from Abetone, Viareggio and Versilia, only 25 km away from Lucca, one can benefit from a mountain and seaside climate. It has been known since ancient times and had been visited by poets and writers, such as Byron, Shelley, Montale, Dumas, Heine, Lamartine and Ouida, the great Paganini and among the European nobility, Napoleon and his beautiful sister Paolina. Thermal water fountain The sulphate, bicarbonate, and calcium contents of the spa waters and the temperature of 54° C, have an extraordinary curative and invigorating effect. Bagni di Lucca has two thermal baths which are specialized in treatment of arthroreumatic, vascular, bronchial and gynacological diseases and skin affections. The centres have been recently restored. Grotta Grande and Grotta Paolina, two jewels of nature with a thermal steam have a temperature between 40° and 47° C. It is an ideal place for relaxation and detoxifying, for skin care and for loosing weight. Grotta Paolina is unique, because in this natural cave can stay only four guests. Grotta Paolina The Ouida Wellness Centre offers special treatments which combine ancient thermal treatments with modern techniques, "Jean Varraud treatment" a 3 steps combination (thermal mud, thermal balneotherapy and massage) creating a harmonious sequence of wellbeing, or the "Red grapes vintage treatment" which combines the stimulating action of trace elements with a modelling and tonifying effect of the vitis vinifera, or the chocolate treatment that involves the senses producing a total balance of the body, necessary for regaining new vitality, efficiency and harmony. The thermal indoor pool welcomes the guests with flowing water at the temperature of 32°C.
