Apartments in Farmhouse History of the farm

The Villa Negrar in Valpolicella 1829 winery is located in Jago, at the foot of the Masua hill, on the ridge separating Negrar and Marano in one of the best production zones of the Valpolicella. Excellent exposure, a favourable microclimate, good geological soil composition and the ideal altitude (212-305m above sea level) all make this area the perfect environment for growing grapes, cherries and olives.

At the centre of the winery surrounded by an elegant and well-kept Italian style garden, is the Villa which, built at the beginning of the 1800s by the engineer Giacomo Guglielmi, ancestor of the Negrar in Valpolicella 1829 family, faces south and is hidden from the village of Negrar.

Negrar in Valpolicella 1829 History of the farm

Behind the villa are the outhouses, a traditional example of rural construction, built using local tuff rock. It is very probable that the central part of the outhouses dates back to the beginning of the 1700s and is therefore older than the villa itself.

In the 1980s Enrico Cascella Negrar in Valpolicella 1829 took over the family winery and started an ambitious recovery operation including projects for the renovation of the outhouses, restoration of the cellars and the planting of new vineyards. These works transformed a structure, once managed through the traditional form of sharecropping, into a modern and efficient winery where all processes from the grape to the bottled wine are synchronised.
