Position: Umbertide 1377 is a working farm, housed in a old but renovated farmhouse, tucked away in the middle of seven hectares of open countryside, in one of Umbria's loveliest valleys.
La Umbertide 1377 is 4 Km from Tuscany border, 7 km. from Umbertide, a 30/40 km. from Assisi, Perugia, Cortona, Trasimeno Lake, San Sepolcro and Gubbio, a 15 km. from Cittā di Castello, a 70 km. from Siena, Spoleto, Montepulcaino and Orvieto, a 120 km. from Firenze and 180 km. from Rome.
Since 1979 we have dedicated ourselves (my name is Claudio and my wife is Dada) to the loving restoration of this building and its grounds with the aim of creating an intimate dining atmosphere.
Veranda
Cooking: the essence of Umbertide 1377 is best expressed by its food. Here, in our cozy restaurant, you will savor food that is organically grown or raised (much of it on our own land) and prepared for you fresh, in a simple way so the true flavors of each ingredient stand out. For example, The bread at your table comes from seeds that we planted last fall in the fields surrounding the restaurant.
Interiors
When Dada makes the flour into loaves, every step is done by hand and the bread is baked outside in the brick oven that we built. Your vegetables, lettuce and fresh herbs were gathered from our garden today. Our chickens and ducks eat only organic food and are treated with love and respect.
The veal and lamb come from a small farm close to us where our friends, Jianni and Kurt, care for their animals in the same manner. Our vino rosso and bianco is produced from grapes that I tend myself.
A bedroom
In our kitchen Dada cooks traditional Italian foods along with specialties from her native Croatia. Her desire is to create a unique experience for each diner so she personally prepares everything that is served. This full devotion of her heart and mind adds a special quality to the meal that is rarely found today. While waiting for your food you can enjoy Dada's paintings.
Though we are only a small spot in our country, here in the magical Umbrian hills we are near its heart, its center. At Umbertide 1377 we share this spirit with you.
