Vacation Rental in Molise Italy

A holiday in Molise could hold interesting surprises to all those visitors who are fond of art and nature. Molise, the second smallest region of Italy, has a well varied landscape and its origins date back to Palaeolithic; in fact, the archaeological site Isernia La Pineta, where traces of prehistoric hunters have been found, dates back 700.000 years ago – actually this site seems to be the most ancient place where traces of fire used by men have been found.

We also suggest you visit the Benedictine monastery San Vincenzo al Volturno in the province of Isernia, or better said, the ruins of the old monastery. San Vincenzo al Volturno is situated near the source of the river Volturno, in a woody area which extends to Latium and Abruzzo as well. Thanks to year running archaeological investigation and excavations, the Benedictine monastery ruins have been brought to light in that site commonly referred to as the Pompei monastica (literally, Monastic Pompei).

A holiday in agriturismo in Molise may be the perfect occasion not only to visit archaeological sites, but also to go to seaside: there are many seaside resorts, in fact, between Abruzzo coast and Gargano promontory in Puglia.

If you prefer mountains, instead, we recommend you visit the Matese massif, a chain of mountains of the central-southern Apennines where all those who are keen on trekking will discover amazing natural itineraries. We would also like to point out Lete Caves, which you may visit with a tourist guide only.
