The outskirts underline particularly the with the history, to start really from Cuna, on the shores of the stream little Tressa over its confluence with the Arbia, and from its grancia, the farm strengthened erect in 1224 from the commune in Siena and from the Spedale (Hospital) of S. Maria della Scala on the preexisting structure of the Spedale already installed by the XII century.
Very ample and still perfectly preserved, the complex is composed from a small surrounded suburb and from the farm-fortitude leaned out on the triangular plaza which is entered going beyond the tower of entry. The small church of SS. Jacopo and Cristoforo of 1314 rises out of the strengthened nucleus of the building.
Outskirts
Not distant it is the parish of Corsano, founded in the XI century and devoted to S. Giovanni Battista.Typical Romanesque style with face in two orders overlapped of blind arcades and hanging arcatelle.
Returning on the street Cassia, few over Monteroni also the small center of Lucignano of Arbia reveals its origin of fortitude in the two fourteenth-century door-towers and in the thick tower medioevale turned into the bell tower of the Romanesque parish.
T he mill to water appeared in the II sec. AC., the first industrial installation of the history can be considered, both because it transforms the natural resources in strength engine, both because the first subjects must have transferred from the place of production to the place of transformation, characteristics that today they are attributed to the modern industrial production.
Old church
For an only characteristic the mill is far from the modern industries: it doesn't produce secondary effects that go to notch the quality of the environment.
The water withdrawn by the environment to operate the machineries of the mill is entirely returned to the same environment without it suffers changes of chemical-physical character.
