Monteleone di Orvieto 493 is an antique building that dates back to the 15th century, it was enlarged in 1756 and there is a date plaque of the Torre di Mezzodi hung over the door. In 2002 a major restoration started, by then the house was only a ruin. The careful restoration was done with the antique techniques and methods, the materials where strictly natural. At one time Monteleone di Orvieto 493 was used as a resting place to change horses and the legacy of this use is still visible on the west side of the house where one can still see the old attachments carved in stone and brick.

The whole house is built in field stones and brick, it is a large house with several towers, two idyllic shaded terraces for refreshment and a wood fired oven. On the south side of the building the swimming pool (7x7 mt.) is built like an old washing place, with lovely views of the Umbrian countryside.

The herb garden with the smells of rosmary and thyme is nearby and can be also used by the guests - and it is worthwhile to just enjoy the splendid view of Monteleone di Orvieto.

In the lower part of the house are two large rooms and a kitchen for general use, Androne de Casavecchia with an assorted wine cellar and Galleria de Archi rampanti with a fantastic fireplace. At the restaurant the owners prepare delicious and simple Umbrian dinners twice a week for our guests and it is also used for special events and meetings. During the summer you can sit outside under the stars at the vasca and enjoy a good glass of wine, hearty conversation or a quiet moment to yourself.
